Great news )) If you need to validate your Microsoft Word files in tests, there is a small and cool solution:

Testing Word files (.doc and .docx) is important for the quality of software and web services. If users can export data to Word, it's necessary to check that the files contain all the required information. This is especially crucial for business documents and reports.

The docx-test library in Java helps QA engineers check the content of Word files. With its help, you can quickly and accurately ensure that the files include all the necessary texts and data. This reduces the risk of errors and improves the user experience. This library will be useful for testers working with platforms that support Word export. It simplifies testing and enhances the reliability of the product.

Make sure your code always generates correct and valid docx and doc files!

How to use

import com.qabonsai.docxtest.DOCX;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.Test;

import java.io.IOException;

import static com.qabonsai.docxtest.DOCX.containsText;
import static org.hamcrest.MatcherAssert.assertThat;

public class WordTests {
    @Test
    void canAssertThatDocContainsText() throws IOException {
        DOCX doc = new DOCX(getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("file-sample_100kB.doc"));
        assertThat(doc, containsText(new String[]{"Vestibulum neque massa, scelerisque sit amet ligula eu"}));
    }

    @Test
    void canAssertThatDocxContainsText() throws IOException {
        DOCX docx = new DOCX(getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("file-sample_100kB.docx"));
        assertThat(docx, containsText(new String[]{"Lorem ipsum",
                "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nunc ac faucibus odio."}));
    }
}

How to add to your project

Copy jar-file into lib directory of your project and make import in IntelliJ IDEA (Project structure - Modules - Dependencies). If you use Gradle, please add the following dependency to build.gradle:

dependencies {
    testImplementation files('lib/docx-test.jar')
}
